College is not easy. Any major you take in college will be somewhat difficult. Business majors can be difficult if you are majoring in something that does not interest you. If you hate numbers and are an accounting major, it will be really difficult and you will be miserable.
Business majors should have a ton of job prospects after they graduate with their business degree. Marketing majors are always in heavy demand as you can see – market research analysts are expected to grow by 18% in the next 10 years.
In order to find and rank the hardest business majors, we used a couple of different factors. We used retention rates for college students based on majors – these retention rates indicated to us what percentage of students remained in their declared major or decided to change their major. We determined this would be a good indication of how easy or hard a major was.
After determining retention rates, we paired those specific majors with the average GPA’s for each major. GPA is a great indicator of how easy or hard a major is. We then assigned a weight to each factor and scored the majors using both criteria. We realize that GPA’s can vary from school to school so some GPA’s may be higher or lower depending on the school you are looking at. We determined this was the best way to use data to find the hardest business majors.
